Alligator Gar,

If you ride up the Peace rive, you will see swirls on the surface of the water,
Gars are the most likely cause of these swirls.
They like to lay just below the surface and bask in the sun.

Gars are really tough to get a hook into I find large wide gap kahle hooks from 4/0 to
6/0 are the best, the shiners under a Bobber.

but a better bait stealer for their size dose not exist.

American Eel

                            Great eating.
One thing they are not vegetarians,
They eat bugs, worms, fish, shrimp, alga, plant or animal,
they eat every thing. The kicker is that they have a gizzard
just like a chicken, which adds to their nick names
like chicken of the sea. When I first moved to Fla. Mullet gizzard
was a favorite of the local rednecks,

Common Names - Widely known as shellcracker because of its fondness for snails. Also called bream, yellow bream.
